Bridging the Gap in NB IoT industry Sri Lanka

NB IoT or NarrowBand-Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is a standards-based low power wide area (LPWA) technology developed to enable a wide range of new IoT devices and services. This technology is new to Sri Lankan telecommunication industry and still growing. One of the best individuals to discuss this modern technology was Dr. Shamil Apputhurai, Senior Manager – Master Planning & Transmission Planning, Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. Dr. Shamil’s contribution to the 6th IEEE YP LETs talk session could brighten up minds of many interested participants.
The session was held on 18th March, 2019 at Mobitel Innovations center, Trace ln, Colombo 03. 30 participants were present in the session and their feedback was positive. It was a great collaboration by IEEE Young Professionals with Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, because, Mobitel is a company, the leader in Telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka and the giant who hosted the Mobitel NB IoT forum in Sri Lanka.

A very positive feedback was received by the participants who were already engaged in the field of telecommunication and the enthusiasts. Every individual had only heard about NB IoT and they had been looking for opportunities like those to attend and learn.
