The second episode of LETs talk for year 2020, was successfully concluded on 19th of May 2020 on the topic “Corona is Not the Only Virus”. In a period where COVID 19 has outspreaded across the world causing a world pandemic, majority of the professionals has adapted to the “Work From Home” concept. “Work From Home” is also “Working Online”. It was the ideal time to discuss and aware the public about cybersecurity through a set of pioneers in the field. This was a joint venture by IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka and ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter.
The elite panel for the session included some of the most prominent figures in the region’s cybersecurity arena, Mr. Sujit Christy, Director of Layers-7 Seguro Consultoria Private Limited, both Founder and President of Information Security Professional Associates (iSPA) who is also a passionate cybersecurity adoption evangelist; Mr. Mohan Chathuranga, a Deputy General Manager – IT Governance at the MAS Holdings since 2019 and the current Director of ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter and Mr. Kanishka Yapa, Assistant Manager (Information Security) at Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd and has been a visiting lecturer at Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT). The panel was moderated by Mr. Kavinga Yapa Abeywardena, a lecturer in Cyber-Security in the department of Computer Systems Engineering of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology since 2016 and a visiting lecturer at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
The session was very interesting and extremely informative and since, th information should mostly reach the community who is not regularly in touch with this topic, the session was given the maximum possible visibility. There were nearly 2000 views online for the session and we hope that the participants and the viewers received the maximum benefit out of it.
