StudPro 4.0

IEEE StudPro is an annual event organized by IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka for all the fresh graduates and undergraduates throughout Sri Lanka to expose their talents to the corporate world exactly after their degree or during the final stages of the degree. IEEE StudPro was started back in 2017 to create a platform for undergraduates/graduates, job seekers and companies to interact at the same place.

Continuing its legacy for the 5th year, below is the program roadmap for this   year.

The StudPro workshop series completed its two workshops for the year, “Creating A Competitive Resume” and “Groom Yourself to Nail Your Dream Job” on the 8th and 14th of May 2021. Both sessions were conducted online due to the  pandemic and addressed timely issues. This year program is organized by the IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka and supported by the IEEE Region 10 and IEEE Region 10 Young Professionals

Career Fair

IEEE StudPro 4.0, Career Fair 2021 organized by IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka for the fourth consecutive time was held on the October 9th virtually from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. There were 650+ registrants from 19+ universities as job seekers for the event with 36 organizations mentioned below. Interested individuals from the immediately passed out batches as well as the current final year undergraduates completing their degree by the end of this year, were also presented for the screening. This contributed to the tireless efforts of the planning committee, which was comprised of selected job developers and employment specialists.

“Creating A Competitive Resume” on the 8th  of May 2021. Mr. Dilina Gunathilake, Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Fortude, Ms. Sasini Withana, Senior Executive – HR at Fortude and Mr. Lasitha Liyanaarachchi, Senior Category Manager – Supply Chain Management at Dialog Axiata PLC, three professionals from the industry graced the “Creating A Competitive Resume” session as the speakers, focusing on “how undergraduates on their journey to find a job should curate their CV” since it’s a compelling issue most of the undergraduates face due to lack of awareness. Mr. Sasini and Mr. Dilina mainly focused on how to create a competitive resume for the Information Technology field while Mr. Lasitha focused on how to create the resume for the Electrical/Electronic Engineering field. Speakers gave a lot of ideas such as “How to pick the best CV format, How to write the personal profile, how to build the education section, How to write about key skills on a resume

Groom yourself

“Groom Yourself to Nail Your Dream” conduced on the 14th of May 2021. The session was conducted to spread interview skills awareness among the undergraduates, required to secure their dream job while facing interviews online or physically.

Also, topics like  “How to prepare for an interview, Interview attire, Body language, How to express ourselves to the interviewer” were discussed. The session was conducted by an expert, Mr. Kumara Galhenage, Deputy General Manager – Group Talent Management at Brandix. These sessions attracted 130 live participants. Without a doubt, it must have been a fruitful time for all the attendees who got out and enjoyed all we had to offer.

 

CV/ LinkedIn Mentoring Sessions for the participants of our first workshop is being carried out currently. There are 12 mentoring sessions in progress with a pool of 6 Young Professional mentors selected from different industries. This is an exclusive opportunity offered for IEEE members
